Spring 2020
The Spring 2020 series was created in response to changes in people's lives and behaviors during the 2020 lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The works are portraits of people in a new reality.
"Stay at Home" - self-portrait in a special protective suit. Glued directly to the canvas over the image of a person are tickets and boarding passes that were used in 2019 and were not available in 2020. Despite these details, worries about broken plans fade into the background because of the costume, which is a reminder of the danger of the disease and the number of deaths caused by it.
"Coronation" is in many ways the opposite of a self-portrait. The picture is an image of a person who decided not to comply with security measures and go on vacation instead of observing the regime of self-isolation. Through the author's irony, the question of the irresponsible individualist approach emerges, which clearly manifested itself during the pandemic and turned out to be stronger than collective values.
"Essential Goods" is an ironic collective image of the absurd situations that happened during the pandemic, and from Internet memes. In the picture been used newspaper clippings with news about the pandemic. These fragments are shown here as a fragment of a huge information flow that hit people during the epidemic. The intensity of the production of new information caused fatigue, but at the same time, the news was for a long time a herald of hope for improvement.
